Niagara IceDogs News Release
St. Catharines, ON - December 31st, 2018 The Niagara IceDogs are excited to announce that 2018 5th round OHL selection Ethan Sims has committed to the organization by signing his Standard Player Agreement.
The Niagara native spent last season playing Minor Midget with the Niagara North Stars of the SCTA, compiling an outstanding 44 points in just 34 games.
This season, Sims has taken his game to another level with the St. Catharines Falcons of the GOJHL. With 17 points through 16 games, Sims is currently the second youngest player in all of Junior 'B' to be over a point per game.
"We are thrilled to be officially adding Ethan to the IceDogs. He is a guy who we loved last year with Niagara North, and we had planned to sign him out of camp, unfortunately injuries slowed the process a bit." said GM Burke. "He has now hit his stride with the Falcons and has proved to us again that he has the talent and drive to succeed at our level. Ethan adds to our already deep '02 age group. This is a very exciting day for us in Niagara!"
He will make his OHL debut tonight against the Ottawa 67's in front of a sold-out crowd.
The entire IceDogs organization would like to congratulate Ethan on this achievement.
