Brantford Bulldogs News Release

HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Hamilton Bulldogs wrapped up 2018 with a New Year's Eve 4-3 shoot-out win in Erie.

The Otters took a 1-0 lead at 8:19, however Arthur Kaliyev (25, 26) took over scoring twice as Hamilton took a 2-1 lead to the dressing room.

The Otters tied the game 2-2 at 9:23 of the 2nd period only to see the Bulldogs re-take the lead as Matthew Strome (14) scored to make it 3-2 Hamilton.

Erie scored the only goal of the 3rd period at 13:49 to tie the game 3-3 to force overtime.

Nothing was decided in the extra period, so a shoot-out was needed to decide a winner. The Bulldogs Matthew Strome and Brandon Saigeon both scored in the skills competition while only one Otter found the back of the net as the Bulldogs headed back to Canada with a 4-3 win.

Erie out-shot Hamilton 55-34 as Bulldogs goalie Zachary Roy stopped 52 shots to get the win.

3 STARS:

1) Zachary Roy (HAM) 2) Maxim Golod (ERIE) 3) Matthew Strome (HAM

The Bulldogs return home to take on the Kingston Frontenacs on Wednesday January 2nd at FirstOntario Centre at 7 pm.
