Memphis Xplorers News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS- The Memphis Xplorers of af2 have seen several fine players don the team's uniform over the years. But none have had a season as electrifying as Offensive Specialist Kevin Prentiss. Prentiss today was featured in a question and answer segment on the league's website, www.af2.com.

Through six games this season, Prentiss has accounted for 40 catches for 496 yards and 9 touchdowns, and is considered a main cog in the Xplorers' offensive scheme. But Prentiss has truly shined on special teams, where he is currently on pace to obliterate the league record for return touchdowns in a season. Prentiss has six touchdowns on only fifteen returns this year, and is averaging an astonishing 36.2 yards per return. The league record for return touchdowns on a season is eight, jointly held by three different players. At his current pace, Prentiss would double that number.

Below is the complete text of the Q&A session with Kevin Prentiss, as well as a link to view the interview on www.af2.com.

Q & A WITH MEMPHIS OS KEVIN PRENTISS

Kevin Prentiss, in his second year with the Memphis Xplorers, continues to be one of the biggest offensive weapons in af2. The Vicksburg, MS native put up excellent numbers last season, making 49 catches for 820 yards and 18 touchdowns through eight games before a leg injury cut short his season. A former All-SEC 2nd Team selection during his career at Mississippi State University, Prentiss is off to another good start in 2004. Through six games this season he has 40 catches for 496 yards with nine touchdowns. The bigger story, however, has been his play on special teams where he has returned 15 kickoffs for 533 yards and six touchdowns. He leads the league with a 35.5 yard per return average and is looking to challenge to all-time single season record of eight return touchdowns in a season. A man of few words, Prentiss took some time this week to answer some questions for af2.com.
