
Esks sign Mobley to long-term deal

(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos secured a key defensive player for 2005 and beyond as Singor Mobley agreed to a multi-year contract. Terms of the deal were not released.
Mobley had a team-leading 75 defensive tackles in 2004 and added 6 more on special teams. He also recorded 1 interception, 3 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries, 2 sacks and 4 tackles for a loss.
A leader in the dressing room and on the field, Mobley had a number of outstanding performances in 2004 including 11 defensive tackles and a special teams tackle versus Ottawa (June 26), 7 defensive tackles, 1 special teams tackle and 1 forced fumble versus Winnipeg (August 12), and 11 defensive tackles versus Saskatchewan (August 20).
The former Washington State star is entering his eighth CFL season, all with the Green and Gold. His Eskimo career was briefly interrupted by a three-year stint with the Dallas Cowboys (1997-'99). Mobley is currently third on Edmonton's all-time defensive tackles list with 469 and trails only Willie Pless (813) and Larry Wruck (646).
