
Eskimos continue roster moves

(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos have signed free agent import defensive lineman Montez Murphy, free agent import kicker Tony Yelk and free agent import running back Shermar Bracey, the club announced today.
Murphy signed as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers in May 2006 and was released during training camp. He then signed a practice roster agreement with the Kansas City Chiefs in September 2006. He played in one game for the Chiefs on special teams in 2006. A two-year letter winner at Baylor, Murphy started 19 games and finished his college career with 72 tackles, including 14.5 tackles for losses, 5.5 quarterback sacks, five forced fumbles and three knockdowns. Before transferring to Baylor, Murphy attended Coffeyville Community College in Kansas.
A four-year letterman at Iowa State, Yelk was a punter his first three seasons and kickoff specialist his senior year. As a senior, he recorded 34 touchbacks on 67 kickoffs. His junior year he punted 73 times for a 41.4 average. He was a first-team freshman All-America and was an All-Big 12 freshman team member in 2001.
Bracey signed with Saskatchewan in 2006, dressing in ten games (2 starts). He finished the season with 38 carries for 233 yards and three touchdowns and ten receptions for 85 yards. He was released by the Riders in August 2007. Bracey spent three seasons at Arkansas State where he left with 271 carries for 1459 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also had 18 receptions for 138 yards and one touchdown.
The Eskimos also announced that non-import Jared Winkel (RB) and imports Jason Flowers (DB) and Raleigh Roundtree (OL) have been released.
