Portland Timbers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Timbers midfielder Eryk Williamson has been named to the U.S. Men's National Team roster for the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup. Williamson will report to Kansas City, Kan., on July 5 for training camp with the team.
Williamson, 23, has made 10 appearances (eight starts) for the Timbers this season, tallying one goal and two assists. Notably, he earned MLS Team of the Week honors (week five) for his two-assist performance in a 2-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes on May 15. During the 2020 MLS regular season, Williamson scored three goals and tallied five assists in a career-high 21 appearances (17 starts) for Portland.
At the international level, the Alexandria, Va., native has earned one cap with the U-23 USMNT, and most recently was called in by the U-23's for a domestic training camp in March. He competed at the U-20 FIFA World Cup in the summer of 2017, logging four starts in the five matches, and helped the U-20 USMNT advance to the quarterfinals.
The USMNT will kick off their Concacaf Gold Cup campaign in Kansas City on July 11 against the Prelim Winner 7 (6 p.m. PT, FS1). Playing in Group B, the six-time Gold Cup champions will face Martinique on July 15 (7 p.m. PT, FS1), and round out the group stage against Canada on July 18 (2 p.m. PT, FOX). The top two teams from Group B will advance to the quarterfinals, held in Arlington, Texas on July 25.
