Erwin Added to CL North All-Star Team

FREDERICK, MD - The Frederick Keys are excited to announce that Tyler Erwin has been added to the Carolina League Northern Division all-star team. It marks the first professional all-star selection for Erwin.

In 21 games, Erwin, 23, is 0-2 with a 0.87 ERA to go with five saves. Over 31 innings, the left-hander has allowed just five runs (three earned) on 18 hits. He has walked 10 and struck out 36 while opponents are batting just .168 (18-for-107) against him. Difficult against hitters from both sides of the plate, left-handed batters are hitting .152 against Erwin, while right-handers are batting just .180 against the southpaw.

Unscored upon in three June games, the Arizona native is tied for the Carolina League lead in games, while among CL relievers he ranks second in lowest batting average against, fourth in fewest baserunners per nine innings (8.71) and tied for fifth in saves.

The 2018 season marks the first in Frederick for Erwin who was drafted by the Orioles in the 23rd round of the 2016 draft out of New Mexico State.

Erwin will play in this season's midsummer classic along with teammates Ryan McKenna, Preston Palmeiro, Cristian Alvarado and Alex Wells. This year's Carolina League All Star Classic presented by US Foods will take place next Tuesday, June 9 at Five County Stadium in Zebulon, NC, home of the Carolina Mudcats. First pitch is slated for 7:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, the Keys play their second doubleheader in as many days against the Lynchburg Hillcats. First pitch is slated for 5:00 p.m from Nymeo Field and both games will be seven innings in length. Both broadcasts can be heard on and the TuneIn radio app.

The Frederick Keys are the Advanced-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, and play their home games at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.
