(Volcanoes Stadium - Keizer, OR) - Despite a 4-for-4 night from Canadians DH Austin Davis and five solid innings on the mound from starter LHP Evan Smith, Vancouver's defense allowed Salem-Keizer to grab a 4-3 victory on Friday night out at Volcanoes Stadium.

The game would feature three lead changes as Salem-Keizer opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1st inning after 2B Junior Amion smacked a triple down the right field line and scored on a groundout.

Vancouver would score the next two runs of the game as C Kevin Garcia managed a deep sacrifice fly that scored 1B Juan Kelly to give the Canadians a 2-1 lead.

A solo home run from Volcanoes DH Julio Pena brought the game even before Salem-Keizer regained the lead in the bottom of the 6th inning when Vancouver LHP Dan Lietz gave up three straight base hits before leaving the game. Shortly after the departure of Lietz, C Brad Moss would hit a sacrifice fly chasing in 3B Miguel Gomez to help Salem-Keizer to a 3-2 lead.

The home town lead would extend to a pair of runs in the bottom of the 7th inning when CF Brennan Metzger led off with a double and later scored on a sacrifice fly from 1B John Riley.

Vancouver would rally with a run in the top of the 9th inning as RF Juan Tejada, SS Christian Vazquez and DH Austin Davis all connected for base hits off of Volcanoes closer RHP EJ Encinosa, with Davis' single scoring Tejada. However, with the tying run at third base in the form of pinch runner Rolando Segovia (in for Vazquez), Encinosa would get CF Earl Burl III to strikeout and 3B Alex Maldonado to ground out to preserve the 4-3 victory.
