ENTERING TODAY'S ACTION... Today, the SeaWolves look to finish off a strong opening road trip as they take the field in the rubber match of a three-game series against the Harrisburg Senators (Washington Nationals) at Commerce Bank Park. Harrisburg took game one of the series 12-5 while Erie held on for a one-run win 3-2 last night. Erie pitchers held the powerful Senators offense to a pair of runs on four hits in the game...The ‘Wolves are currently alone atop the Southern Division as the only one-loss team. The ‘Wolves can also make it two straight series victories to open the ‘08 campaign with a win today...The Senators are the top hitting team in the league with a .293 team batting average. Their bats have also clubbed 10 home runs this season which is tied with Akron for most in the EL...The Senators (41) and SeaWolves (33) are one and two in the league in runs scored...Leftie Jon Connolly makes his second start of the season today against Harrisburg. Connolly took a no-decision in his first outing against Bowie allowing three runs on two hits in six-plus innings of work...RHP Bobby Browlie takes the hill for the Senators. Brownlie took a no-decision in his first outing against Akron. In the game, he went five innings, surrendering four runs on six hits with three walks and a pair of strikeouts...The SeaWolves will head home following today's game to begin a seven-game homestand at Jerry Uht Park on Thursday. Binghamton will be in town for the first four games and Bowie will round out the homestand in the final three games. TODAY'S NOTABLES - - The SeaWolves are 5-1 on the road. - Erie is 3-0 in day games. - Erie and Harrisburg have split the first two games of the season series. The SeaWolves and Senators meet 21 times in 2008. - Erie is looking to break a trend following playoff seasons. In the nine-year history of the SeaWolves at the Double-A level, the club has never appeared in back-to-back post-seasons. - Last night's 3-2 victory was the second one-run win for the ‘Wolves in 2008. In games decided by three runs or fewer, Erie is 3-0. - The ‘Wolves enter tonight's game ranked third in the league with a .257 team batting average. - Jeff Frazier, the ‘Wolves team leader with seven RBI. However, Frazier has been held hitless (0-for-9) in two games against the Senators. - Freddy Guzman leads the ‘Wolves and is tied for second in the EL with three stolen bases. Erie is tied for second in the league with nine stolen bases as a team. - Today's starter Jon Connolly had bad luck last May 23 at Commerce Bank Park. Tossing one of his best outing of the season, Connolly worked into the ninth inning with a 7-0 lead. He struck out the first batter of the inning then gave up a single to Brandon Larson and and a home run to Christian Guerrero make it 7-2. Dan Dement then singled but Connolly struck out Tony Blanco for the second out. Melvin Dorta then singled and Connolly was lifted for the bullpen. The Erie pen could not hold on for the lead and Harrisburg scored seven in the bottom of the ninth and won the game in the bottom of the 10th.
