Connecticut Defenders News Release
NORWICH, CT- Only a week into the season, the Defenders have added to their talented roster Wednesday. Infielder Kyle Haines comes to Connecticut from extended Spring Training to join the 4-1 Defenders.
Haines, 25, was the 31st selection of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft. In 2007, Haines played for the Advanced-A San Jose Giants where he hit .250 in 60 games with 3 HRs, 17 RBIs, and swiped 6 bases.
A graduate from North Clay High School in Salem, Illinois, Haines attended Olney Central College and Eastern Illinois University where he put up gaudy numbers at the plate, never batting under .327. Haines is revered for his discipline at the plate and contact approach.
The Defenders finish up their series with the Portland Sea Dogs tonight at 6:35pm at Dodd Stadium. Tonight's game is the rubber match between these two teams as the series is tied at 1 game a piece. For tickets or further information visit ctdefenders.com or call the box office at (860) 887-7962.
