'Wolves Fall in 10

It was another thriller at Commerce Bank Park between the SeaWolves and Harrisburg Senators, but unlike Tuesday night, Harrisburg took a one-run victory over the 'Wolves in 10 innings to win the series.

Erie struck first for their only run in the top of the third inning. Danny Worth singled with one out and stole second. With two down, Will Rhymes connected on a single that just got to the outfield grass. By the time second baseman Marco Yepez reached the ball, Rhymes got safely to first and Worth scored, putting the 'Wolves ahead 1-0.

Harrisburg would tie the game in the bottom of the fourth off of SeaWolves starter Jon Connolly. Connolly, who had retired the first 10 batters he faced in the game, gave up back-to-back walks to Yepez and Justin Maxwell. Jorge Padilla then doubled home Yepez, nodding the game at 1-1. After intentionally walking Luis Jimenez, Connolly induced a 1-6-3 double play to get out of the bases loaded jam.

The score would remain the same until the bottom of the 10th against reliever Juan Cedeno. Ian Desmond singled and Mike Daniel walked to put the winning run in scoring position for Yepez. On a sacrifice bunt attempt by Yepez, Max Leon dropped the ball allowing the Senators to load the bases for Maxwell. The 'Wolves then went to the bullpen and brought in Matt Rusch who got Maxwell to ground out for the first out of the inning. However, with the bases loaded, Padilla connected on his third hit of the game, a seeing-eye single through the right side of the infield, bringing home the winning run.

Connolly got his second no-decision despite tossing a strong outing. He went six, allowing a run on three hits with three walks and no strikeouts.

The SeaWolves finished the road trip with a 5-2 record and will head back to Jerry Uht Park to begin a four-game series with the Binghamton Mets on Thursday...6:35 First Pitch.
