ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...
Tonight, the SeaWolves take to the road for the first time in 2009 as they take on the Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh Pirates) in the first of a four game series at Blair County Ballpark. Erie is coming off of a rough three-game sweep at the hands of the Bowie Baysox and need a win to avoid dropping to .500 on the season. Bowie outscored Erie 16-5 in the final two games of the series. Erie's offense has put up just 10 runs over the last five games and is 2-3 in those games..."The Uht" has not been kind over the opening homestand for Erie over the last two seasons although in 2009, the 'Wolves finished their first homestand a game over .500 at 4-3. In 2008 Erie was 2-4 in the first homestand of the season. On the flip side, the 'Wolves were 5-2 in the first road trip in '08...Righty Alfredo Figaro makes his second start of the season and second start against Altoona. He took a no-decision in his first outing despite tossing 5.2 shutout innings, allowing five hits and a walk while striking out four. The only trouble Figaro got into against the Curve was in the fifth inning when he had runners on the corners with one out in the fifth. He induced a 6-4-3 double play off the bat of Angel Gonzalez to get out of the inning...Righty Brad Lincoln also makes his second start of the season and second against the 'Wolves. Lincoln went four innings, allowing three runs on three hits with two walks and six strikeouts against Erie on April 9. Lincoln was the Pirates first round selection in the 2006 June draft out of the University of Houston.
