Erie SeaWolves News Release

The SeaWolves bats were held at bay on Wednesday afternoon at Jerry Uht Park as the Akron Aeros ended Erie's longest win streak of the season 4-1.

The Aeros got on the board in the third inning against Erie starter Casey Crosby. Jordan Henry and Karexon Sanchez drew back-to-back one-out walks and moved into scoring position on a double steal. Jared Goedert singed home Henry for a 1-0 lead. It was Akron's first lead of the series. Sanchez would come home to score on a wild pitch for a 2-0 lead.

In the eighth, Akron added to its lead against reliever Rob Waite. With two outs, Matt McBride hammered a ball down the left field line and with the ball bouncing around in the Erie bullpen, McBride circled the bases for an inside the park home run and a 3-0 Akron lead. It was the second inside the park home run allowed by the SeaWolves this season at Jerry Uht Park.

The SeaWolves lone run came in the bottom of the eighth against reliever Nick Hagadone. Jamie Johnson walked, Brandon Douglas singled and Rawley Bishop walked loading the bases for Bryan Pounds. Pounds grounded into a double play, scoring Johnson for Erie's only run.

Akron would add a run in the top of the ninth and avoided the sweep with a 4-1 win over the Howlers.

Crosby (1-2) allowed two runs on three hits with five strikeouts and a season-high six walks in the losing effort.
