Eric Boguniecki Named The MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Former Dayton Bombers and current Worcester IceCats forward Eric Boguniecki is the MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month for April. It is the second time that Boguniecki has won the award, winning as a member of the St. Louis Blues in March 2003.

In seven games with the IceCats of the American Hockey League in April, Boguniecki scored five goals and assisted on five others. In 29 games with Worcester, Boguniecki has 24 points (14g-10a) and 46 penalty minutes. Boguniecki opened the season in Switzerland where he had eight points (5g-3a) and 47 penalty minutes In 10 games with Langenthal.

Selected by St. Louis in the eighth round (193rd overall) in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, Boguniecki scored 37 points (19g-18a) in 26 games with Dayton before being called up to Fort Wayne of the International Hockey League. He scored 12 points (4g-8a) in 35 regular season games and three points (1g-2a) in four postseason games with Fort Wayne.

The 29-year-old Boguniecki scored 10 points (6g-4a) in 27 games for St. Louis in 2003-04, missing 53 games due to injury. In his first full season in the NHL in 2002-03, the 5-8 and 192-pound Boguniecki posted career highs in points (49), goals (22), assists (27) and penalty minutes (38). He finished fifth on the team in goals and was tied for second with a plus/minus rating of +22.

In 2001-02, Boguniecki became the third ECHL player to be named Most Valuable Player of the American Hockey League. Former Charlotte goaltender Jason LaBarbera was named as the AHL MVP in 2003-04 becoming the fourth ECHL player to earn the honor joining Martin Brochu in 1999-2000, and Brad Smyth in 1995-96 and Boguniecki.

In 120 career NHL regular season games, Boguniecki has 28 goals, 32 assists, and 64 penalty minutes.
