Macon Mayhem Teddy Bear Toss Night

Kevin Entmaa earned his first shutout with the Mayhem on Saturday night, stopping all 26 shots he faced as the Mayhem defeated the Quad City Storm by a 1-0 score.
Penalties kept the Mayhem out of the attacking zone for much of the first period. They were shorthanded three times in the opening 20 minutes. Macon was held to a meager three shots on goal in the first period of play, which tied a franchise low. Quad City goaltender Peter Di Salvo stopped all three, while Macon net-minder Entmaa denied all nine first period shots he faced.
Macon remedied their shooting issue in the second period, firing 20 shots on goal in the middle stanza. However, Di Salvo stopped them all and kept the game scoreless. The Mayhem had their first power play of the game 4:27 into the second, and despite using the man-advantage to generate several chances, they could not convert.
Late in the period, Anton Lindström went to the Macon penalty box to serve a bench minor for too many men on the ice. Marcus Ortiz and Josh Cousineau spearheaded the shorthanded efforts, and the Mayhem successfully fought off their fourth penalty kill of the night. Entmaa turned aside all six shots he faced during the middle frame.
In eager anticipation of the Teddy Bear Toss, fans in the Centreplex grew restless at the notion of a shutout against the Mayhem. However, 11:27 into the third period, Shawn Lynch delivered.
Caleb Cameron lofted the puck over two Storm defensemen through the neutral zone, and it was gloved down to the ice by Lynch at the Quad City blue line. Lynch settled the puck down and accelerated to the goal, backhanding a shot through the five-hole of Di Salvo. The goal electrified the arena, and launched the team's fourth annual Teddy Bear Toss. All stuffed animals thrown onto the ice will be donated to local children's hospitals in the Middle Georgia area.
Entmaa earned his first shutout with the Mayhem, stopping all 26 shots he faced. Di Salvo was charged with the loss despite playing extremely well, denying 35 of 36. The Mayhem have jumped to 8th place in the SPHL standings, passing the Storm and the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs. The Mayhem will host the Dawgs on Mac's 5th Birthday next Friday, December 20th, at 7:30 pm ET.
