Ennis Returns To The Majors

OTTAWA - The Philadelphia Phillies have purchased the contract of RHP John Ennis. Taking Ennis's spot on the Lynx roster will be OF Pedro Swann, transferred from Double-A Reading. The Phillies have also designated RHP Brian Sanches for assignment.

Ennis, 27, was 4-4 with a 3.36 ERA in 36 games with the Lynx, including six starts. Ennis ranks second on the Lynx in games pitched and strikeouts and third in innings pitched. This will be Ennis's first call-up to the Major Leagues since 2004 when he appeared in 12 games with the Detroit Tigers.

Swann, 36, carries a .244 average with five home runs and 22 runs batted in over 68 games with the Lynx. He is hitting .243 with two home runs and 12 runs batted in over 21 games with the R-Phils.

Sanches, 29, leads the Lynx with 16 saves. He has accumulated a 2-3 record with a 4.75 ERA in 36 games with Ottawa, including one start. Sanches has struck out 52 batters and walked only eight. He has also made 12 appearances with the Phillies this season, going 1-1 with a 5.52 ERA.
