Berkshire Black Bears News Release
There were no two-way discussions at the bargaining table tonight. In fact, the Ambassadors were not even granted the floor until the eighth inning. A 13-3 rout by the Black Bears, on the first Win Jonathan Fleisig's Money night of the season, sent fans home happy and slightly richer Friday night against Allentown.
Berkshire knocked around starter Chris Zallie (0-2) and staff for 12 hits on the night, which translated into $215 of the owner's money awarded to various contestants who drew a chance to sit in the money chair. Starter Tony Harden demonstrated the continued improvement of the Black Bears' rotation, going six scoreless innings for his first win of 2003. Ryan Jones, who was hitting .380 coming into the night, again bettered his numbers with a 2-4 performance, which included a pair of doubles, a walk, two runs scored, and three RBIs. Seven Berkshire hitters combined for the 12 hits, while all nine in the starting lineup reached base safely in the diplomatic massacre.
Black Bears' ace Rick Guttormson (1-2) is on the mound Saturday night against Tim Davidson (0-1). The third game of this four-game series is scheduled for a 7:05 pm first pick as Berkshire looks to guarantee a series victory with the win tomorrow.
