Energy Pushed To Limit By Reno, Prevail 120-116

DES MOINES, IA, Feb. 23, 2010 - Guard Jeff Trepagnier came off the bench to score 22 points as the Iowa Energy defeated the Reno Bighorns 120-116 Tuesday night in Des Moines.

Iowa appeared to be in control of the game for the first three quarters of the game. The Energy led by as many as 18 points and took an seven point lead into the fourth quarter. The visiting Bighorns opened the final quarter with a 10-2 run, fueled by a pair of Desmon Farmer 3-pointers, to take a 91-90 lead with 9:18 left in the game.

The two teams traded the lead 13 times in the last nine minutes of the game, and with just one minute remaining, the Energy found themselves down 111-110. Energy point guard Curtis Stinson drove the lane and found a cutting Othyus Jeffers for a dunk that gave Iowa a one point lead. After a Stinson steal, he recorded his 15th assist of the game as he found Jeff Trepagnier who scored and was fouled. Trepagnier knocked down the free throw to put Iowa up by four.

The Energy made 6 of 8 free throws in the final seconds to secure the win. Iowa improves to 30-6 on the season, including their current nine game win streak.

Center Earl Barron scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Iowa while Stinson finished with 13 points and 15 assists.

Reno was led by D.J. Strawberry, who finished with 21 points while Rod Benson had 19 points and 17 rebounds. The loss drops the Bighorns to 15-18 on the year.
