OKC Energy FC News Release
Energy FC (7th, 5-4-5, 20 points) are back to work Saturday night away to Fresno FC (5th, 5-2-5, 20 points) after a 1-1 draw with Western Conference leaders New Mexico United Wednesday night in Albuquerque. Deshorn Brown scored his seventh goal of the campaign off Omar Gordon's fifth assist. Cody Laurendi recorded five saves to take him into the lead for most in the USL Championship with 47.
Fresno FC are coming off a 1-0 loss away to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC last Saturday. OKC and Fresno met twice in 2018 with the Foxes winning 2-1 at Chukchansi Park in March and drawing 0-0 at Taft Stadium in July.
OKC will be without four key players, as Cordell Cato (Trinidad and Tobago), Alvin Jones (Trinidad and Tobago), Je-Vaughn Watson (Jamaica) and Mekeil Williams (Trinidad and Tobago) have all been called up to represent their countries ahead of the Concacaf Gold Cup.
Coach Cooke has bolstered his squad with a familiar face returning to the club. Jonathan Brown rejoins Energy FC from Hartford Athletic and is available for selection tomorrow.
