USL OKC Energy FC

Energy FC at Home against El Paso Tomorrow Night

July 5, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
OKC Energy FC News Release

Energy FC (8th, 6-5-7, 25 points) return home after securing three points in a hard-fought battle with Las Vegas Lights FC. Deshorn Brown scored his ninth USL Championship goal of the season off an assist from Jon Brown in the 89th minute. Cody Laurendi and the Energy FC defense, bolstered by the return of Alvin Jones and Mekeil Williams, kept their fourth clean sheet of the season in the 1-0 victory.

OKC will face El Paso Locomotive FC (5th, 7-4-6, 27 points) for the first time since the season opener. After a three-match win streak to begin the month of June, Locomotive FC are winless in their last three outings, most recently losing 3-0 away to Fresno FC. This will be the third time the sides have met, including preseason, as Energy FC look to earn their third victory over the expansion club. In both meetings, Deshorn Brown and Cordell Cato got on the scoresheet, with the former scoring in just 12 seconds, the second-fast goal in USL Championship history, and then adding another goal to help the Greens win 3-1 in El Paso in Locomotive FC's first ever match.

With the Trinidad and Tobago trio making their return last weekend and Atiba Harris serving a one-match suspension, the only player guaranteed not to feature is Je-Vaughn Watson who just finished up national team duty at the Gold Cup with Jamaica, helping the Reggae Boyz advance to the semifinal before losing to the United States Wednesday night.
