DES MOINES, Iowa, February 23, 2009 - The Erie BayHawks upset the Iowa Energy 114-101 Monday night at Wells Fargo Arena. The Energy's record moves to 19-11.
The Energy led after the first quarter 31-26, but fell behind after a three-point shot by Erie's Tony Bethel with 8:22 left in the second quarter. Anthony Tolliver's three-pointer with 1:42 left in the game pulled the Energy within 8, but the BayHawks held on to their lead for the remainder of the game.
Curtis Stinson recorded a double-double, contributing 20 points and 14 assists. Courtney Sims added 23 points, while Tolliver (20 points) and Patrick Sanders (18 points) also finished the game in double digits.
Six members of the BayHawks squad (18-16) contributed double figures including Ivan Harris (32 points), Maureece Rice (25 points), Jackie Manuel (16 points, 10 rebounds), and Darian Townes (11 points). Tony Bethel and Cliff Clinkscales also contributed 12 points a piece.
The Energy continue their home stretch on Thursday at 7 p.m. as they take on the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
