February 23, 2009 - NBA G League (G League) - Colorado 14ers News Release


February 17 vs Iowa Energy - The 14ers set a new franchise record for points in a game with a 141-118 win over Iowa. Billy Thomas knocked down six of 10 3-pointers on his way to a season-high 30 points. He also added six rebounds, seven assists, and seven steals in the win. Dominique Coleman and Josh Davis each posted double-doubles in Colorado's sixth straight win at the Broomfield Event Center.

February 22 at Austin Toros - Austin outlasted Colorado taking a 131-124 win in overtime. Eight 14ers scored in double figures, led by 20 points apiece from Joe Dabbert and newcomer John Lucas, but Colorado couldn't overcome a 39 point, 18 rebound effort from the Toros Pops Mensah-Bonsu.

The last two times out on the home court, the 14ers have tied and then set a new franchise record with 138 and 141 points in a game.

The 14ers continue to lead the D-League in scoring averaging 117.9 points per game.

Colorado also leads the D-League in per game averages for field goals made and attempted, free throws made and attempted, three pointers made and attempted, offensive rebounds, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocked shots.

Dominique Coleman leads the D-League with 2.8 steals per game.

Josh Davis is fifth in the D-League with a .889 free throw percentage.

Joe Dabbert is sixth in the league with 1.5 blocks per game, and ranks eighth in field goal percentage at .557

Lamar Butler's .485 3-point field goal percentage ranks fifth in the D-League.

The Milwaukee Bucks have signed guard Eddie Gill (6-1, 185) to a second 10-day contract, General Manager John Hammond announced today.

In four games for Milwaukee, Gill has averaged 3.5 points and 2.3 assists in 9.3 minutes per game. He signed his initial 10-day contract with the Bucks on February 9.

The Bucks roster remains at 15 players.

John Lucas Joins 14ers

DENVER - February 20, 2009 - The Colorado 14ers announced today that guard John Lucas has been added to the team. Lucas gives Colorado a 10-man roster after GATORADE Call-Up Eddie Gill was signed to a second 10-day contract by the Milwaukee Bucks. Lucas will wear number 15 and will be available for the 14ers next game Sunday afternoon at Austin.

The 5-11 guard was a free agent before entering the NBA Development League this season, having last played in training camp for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the fall of 2008. Prior to this season, Lucas played for Benetton Treviso in the Italian League and for the Houston Rockets from 2005-2007. He also had a previous stint in the D-League with the Tulsa 66ers in the 2005-2006 season.

In 60 career NBA games Lucas averaged 3.1 points and 0.8 assists. The son of former NBA player and coach John Lucas also led Oklahoma State to the NCAA Final Four in 2004.
