The Energy entered the game with a 1.5 game lead over the BayHawks in the NBA D-League's Eastern Conference, and jumped out to a 14-2 lead behind eight early points from Michael Haynes. Iowa controlled most of the initial stanza and led the contest 33-18 heading into the 2nd quarter.

An Ivan Johnson layup with 9:24 left in the 3rd made the score 66-62 Iowa. Just as the game appeared to be headed towards a back and forth finish, Iowa went on a 14-3 run, including back to back 3-pointers from Haynes and Mike Taylor, to take a commanding 80-65 lead. Erie wouldn't get within ten points of Iowa until the final seconds, as the Energy coasted to their league-best 28th win of the season.
Iowa dominated the rebounding battle, grabbing 57 boards compared to just 39 for the BayHawks.
Haynes finished with 23 points, including four 3-pointers for the Energy, who have now been in 1st place for 138 consecutive games dating back to the start of the 2008-2009 season. The win improves Iowa to 28-10 and puts them 2.5 games ahead of Erie.
D-League All-Star Ivan Johnson scored 30 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for Erie, while reserve Tasmin Mitchell finished with 19 points. The loss drops Erie to 24-11 on the year.

The Energy and BayHawks battle again Tuesday night before Iowa heads further east for games at Springfield and Maine. The Energy return home on Sunday, March 6th for Faith and Family Night presented by Goalsetter Systems. Faith-based star Aaron Shust will perform in concert after the Energy game.
