Erie, Pennsylvania, Sunday, February 27, 2011 - The Iowa Energy overwhelmed the Erie BayHawks on Sunday afternoon with a balanced attack that included three Energy players notching double-doubles in the 122-113 win. The loss snapped Erie's franchise-best 11-game home win streak.
Iowa (28-10) came out scoring on fast break after fast break and lead by as many as 15 points in the first quarter. But Erie owned the second quarter by outscoring the Energy by ten to head into halftime trailing by five. Erie's Ivan Johnson lead all scorers at the half with 19.
But Courtney Sims and Iowa responded in the third by taking their largest lead of the game at 16 with a little more than two minutes to play in the frame. Sims recorded a double-double in the third quarter alone, dropping 11 points and grabbing 11 board. A back and forth final quarter saw the BayHawks only get as close as the game's final margin of nine points.
Curtis Stinson finished with 25 points and 10 assists, Sims notched 18 points and 18 rebounds, Othyus Jeffers added 22 points and 12 rebounds, Michael Haynes scored 23 and Marqus Blakely chipped in 13.
For Erie (24-11) Johnson finished the game with 30 points, Tasmin Mitchell added 19, Nate Linhart notched 15, Loren Stokes had 11, and Kyle Goldcamp chipped in 10.
The same two teams will meet again Tuesday at 7:00pm ET at Tullio Arena.
