
Emeralds' Schmitt Carries Offense in Last Three Innings at Hillsboro

The Emeralds came up with late-night offense in the last three innings to win against the Hillsboro Hops 5-4.
Emeralds' RF Vaun Brown jumped on the first pitch of the game and delivered with a lead-off solo home run to give the Emeralds the lead 1-0.
Three innings later, the Hops added their first two runs of the game on an RBI double by CF Caleb Roberts and an RBI single by DH A.J. Vukovich to get their first lead 2-1.
In the sixth inning, Roberts came up with his third RBI on a solo home run and a throwing error by Emeralds' C Pat Bailey would allow Vukovich to score to increase their lead to 4-1.
The Emeralds tied up the game in the seventh inning on a three-run home run by SS Casey Schmitt to tie up the game 4-4.
Schmitt's night would not be over.
He broke the tie in the ninth inning on an RBI single to drive in the go-ahead run to give them their second lead of the game 5-4.
Emeralds' RHP Nick Avila came in the ninth and recorded his 13th save of the season to make him 13 for 13 in saves.
The Emeralds will look for their first series lead as they will throw RHP Wil Jensen. First pitch is at 7:05 PM, 6:50 pregame show on 95.3 The Score.
