Big Leaguers Add Extra Muscle for Frogs, C's Lose Again

EVERETT, WA - The Vancouver Canadians gave up five home runs - including two-run homers by big league rehabbers Kyle Lewis and Luis Torrens - and managed just two hits in a 10-5 loss to the Everett AquaSox (Mariners) Friday night at Funko Field.
The C's scored a run in the top of the first without a hit. Steward Berroa stole second before swiping third and scored on a throwing error on the play to make it 1-0.
That was as far as the Canadians would get with their lead. Lewis took Ricky Tiedemann (L, 2-2) deep on the eighth pitch of the lefty's night to make it 2-1 'Sox and top Mariners prospect Noelvi Marte left the yard in the bottom of the third to put Everett in front by two.
Tiedemann put up zeroes in the second and the fourth then was removed from the game with two outs and a man on in the fifth before Sean Wymer surrendered Torren's jack. Dariel Gomez tagged Wymer for a solo shot four pitches later and the C's were suddenly down 6-1 after five.
Vancouver scored four in the top of the sixth thanks to some Everett mistakes and a two-RBI single from Glenn Santiago to pull within a run, but the Frogs got two of those runs back in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single and a Wymer throwing error before Marte hit his second jack of the night in the eighth to put the AquaSox in front by five and ice the game.
Tiedemann - Toronto's top pitching prospect - allowed season highs in runs (four) and walks (five) with seven strikeouts over 4.2 innings. Santiago and Damiano Palmegiani provided the only offense with a single apiece.
The C's need to win the next two games to secure a series split. Lefty Jimmy Robbins will try and end the losing skid at three games tomorrow night against Everett's Juan Mercedes. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. and coverage can be found on CanadiansBaseball.com and the Sportsnet Radio Network.
