Boise Hawks News Release
EUGENE, Ore. - Five Eugene pitchers combined on a two-hitter, as the Emeralds grabbed Game 1 of a five game series with a 2-1 victory over the Boise Hawks, before 2,357 fans at P.K. Park.
Genison Reyes tossed three shutout innings to pick up the win - as Boise did not have a hit after a third inning double by Stephen Bruno scored Gioskar Amaya to tie the game at 1-1. Tony Wieber struck out the side in the eighth for the Ems, with Roman Madrid getting the final three outs for his league-leading ninth save.
Eugene scored the game-winner in the fifth inning, as Alberth Martinez reached on a Jeimer Candelario fielding error and took second on a wild pitch. River Stevens followed with a double into the left field corner to plate Martinez.
Maxx Tissenbaum went 3-for-4 in the victory for the Ems, while Bruno had both hits for the Hawks. Boise starter Ian Dickson allowed just one earned run, tying a season-high with six strikeouts in the loss.
Game 2 of the series is tomorrow night, with Felix Pena going for the Hawks opposite lefty Justin Hancock. The game will be carried live on 93.1 KTIK-FM.
