
Vancouver improves to 5-1 vs. Spokane with series opening victory on Thursday

(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - After trailing by a pair of runs on a two occasions, the Canadians (19-14) scored five unanswered runs to pull away from the Spokane Indians (11-23) with a 7-4 final on Thursday night in front of 4,962 fans out at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium.
Vancouver fell behind early as the Indians managed a pair of runs in the top of the 1st inning off of starter RHP Ben White who would commit a throwing error that allowed CF Chris Garia to score giving Spokane the early lead.
The Canadians would cut the Spokane lead to 2-1 when 3B Kellen Sweeney singled off of Indians starter RHP Connor Sadzeck that scored LF Matt Newman would drew a walk to lead off the inning.
Trailing 4-2, the Canadians would score the next five runs on the night to pull away from Spokane with SS Jorge Flores grabbing a double in the 6th inning and an RBI triple in the bottom of the 8th inning to help Vancouver pull away for the 7-4 victory.
