Laredo Lemurs News Release

El Paso, TX - A four run fourth for the El Paso Diablos (34-38) helps them slip by the Laredo Lemurs (35-40) 4-3 in game one of a three game series at Cohen Stadium in El Paso, Texas.

Lemurs starting pitcher Mark Haynes started off the fourth by hitting the first two batters he faced to put runners at first and second. Haynes would retire the next two batters, but Jermy Acey kept the inning alive with a single that would bring in a run. Zane Chavez would keep things going with a two-run triple to make it 3-0 Diablos.

That was followed by a double by Daniel Nelson as he drove in Chavez from third to make it 4-0 Diablos.

Chavez ended the day 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI on the night.

Laredo answered El Paso's fourth with three runs of their own in the fifth. But the Diablos pitching closed the door there, allowing only four hits over the final four frames to secure the win.

Diablos starter Scott Hodsdon (7-2) threw seven innings, allowing three runs, on nine hits, before handing the game over the bullpen.

Mark Haynes (3-6) picked up his fourth straight loss, throwing five and two thirds, giving up four runs, on eight hits, with three strikeouts.

At the plate for Laredo, John Allen led all players in hits by going a perfect 4-for-4 but none of his hits scored or drove in runs for the Lemurs.

The Lemurs left eight runners on base and left runners on second and third in the third and fourth inning without picking up a run.

The Lemurs will be on the road for an 11 game trip that will take them to Lincoln, Nebraska, Grand Prairie, Texas, and El Paso, Texas, for their longest trip of the year. You can get tickets at the Laredo Lemurs box office, online at www.laredolemurs.com, or by phone at 956-7LEMURS. All games at Uni-Trade Stadium are set for 7:30pm.
