Grand Prairie 4, Sioux City 3

The bottom of the ninth inning seemed like it would be a formality in the game between Grand Prairie and Sioux City on Tuesday. The Explorers led, 3-1, heading into the last frame, with the AirHogs having registered only three hits on the night. But that is when everything changed. Grand Prairie got five consecutive base knocks to open the frame, the final being a run-scoring single by Chris McMurray that gave the AirHogs walkoff, 4-3 victory. The hit was the only of the night for McMurray but proved to be all he would need. Grand Prairie DH Andres Rodriguez drove in the game-tying run on his second base knock of the night. Rodriguez was the only AirHog with more than one hit. Sioux City CF Yusuke Inoguchi scored a run and drove another in while going 1-for-3 on the night for the visitors.

Gary SouthShore 9, Amarillo 8

Trailing by two runs with two outs in the bottom of the ninth against Amarillo, the RailCats appeared to need a small miracle to pull off the victory. But a walk and three singles later, Gary SouthShore was walking off after an RBI hit from SS David Cooper. Batting in the nine hole, Cooper was hitless until his game-winning at-bat. Thanks to three hits from LF Tim Alberts, including his 13th home run of the year, the Sox led for most of the game and entered the ninth with an 8-5 advantage. But there was no quit in the RailCats on Tuesday, and the home fans got to go home happy. Alberts went 3-for-4 on the night and scored three of his club's eight runs, nearly mirroring the 3-for-5, three-run game from Gary SouthShore's Brian Kolb.

Lincoln 7, Wichita 4

The Saltdogs scored all their runs in the first two innings and never trailed Tuesday against Wichita. The Wingnuts fought back but couldn't overtake the commanding Lincoln lead. Lincoln ended up with a 7-4 win. Saltdogs 1B Jimmy Rohan hit his third home run of the year and led his club in hits, going 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. For Wichita, 2B Wilberto Ortiz also had three hits, two of them doubles. Ortiz also scored one of Wichita's four runs. Starting Saltdogs pitcher Brandon Sinnery picked up the victory, tossing 5.2 innings and allowing four runs on nine hits. The early run support allowed the 6-foot-4 righty some room for error, and a strong performance from the Lincoln bullpen sealed the victory for Sinnery.

St. Paul 8, Fargo-Moorhead 2

Starting Saints pitcher Luke Anderson retired 26 Fargo-Moorhead batters Tuesday, leaving the final out for reliever Bret Severtson, who got Marcos Rodriguez to fly out and finish off the 8-2 St. Paul victory. Anderson struck out six in 8.2 innings of work while allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks. At the plate for St. Paul, DH Willie Cabrera hit his eighth home run of the year - a solo shot in the seventh - to highlight a 2-for-4, two-RBI night. Cabrera also scored two runs. Both of the RedHawks runs were scored via solo homers, the first dinger coming off the bat of 1B Eric Campbell. The shot was Campbell's only hit of the night.

Winnipeg 8, Sioux Falls 2

The Goldeyes scored five runs in the second inning to jump on top in the early going and never trailed on their way to an 8-2 victory over Sioux Falls. Every Winnipeg batter reached base safely at least once, with five accounting for multiple hits. Goldeyes RF Josh Mazzola went 2-for-4, scored once and drove in a run while increasing his season average to .314. Pheasants 1B Jared Bolden drove in two runs in the top of the third on his 12th double of the season. But Sioux Falls wouldn't get any closer to the Goldeyes than three runs. Starting Winnipeg pitcher Matthew Rusch threw a complete game and allowed only two runs on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Rusch is 8-2 on the year with a 2.37 ERA.

Newark 5, Kansas City 3

Bears LF James Roche went 3-for-4 and hit his fourth home run of the season, leading Newark to a 5-3 win over Kansas City. Roche's blast came in the eighth inning, the final of five one-run frames for the Bears. All three of the T-Bones runs came via the longball. The first home run, a two-run shot from DH Ray Sadler, came in the top of the fourth and briefly tied the score. It was Sadler's only hit of the night in four at-bats. Bears starting pitcher Mike Ness struck out 10 batters in eight innings of work while allowing two runs on six hits. Ness is now 8-2 with a 3.24 ERA.

El Paso 4, Laredo 3

Diablos C Zane Chavez hit a two-run triple in his club's four-run fourth inning against Laredo, and El Paso held on to beat the Lemurs, 4-3. Chavez went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI on the night. Laredo answered El Paso's fourth with three runs of their own in the fifth. But Diablos pitching closed the door there, allowing only four hits over the final four frames to secure the win. Diablos starter Scott Hodsdon threw seven innings and allowed three runs on nine hits before handing the game over the the bullpen. The win was Hodsdon's seventh of the season. At the plate for Laredo, DH John Allen led all plyaers in hits by going a perfect 4-for-4 but neither scored nor drove in any runs.
