
Eighth inning dooms Roadrunners

EDINBURG, Texas---- The Amarillo Dillas (8-4) scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat the Edinburg Roadrunners (6-6) 11-6 at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa on Monday night.
The Roadrunners scored six runs in the first four innings but the pitching staff could not hold on to the lead after they issued 12 walks throughout the game. Starter Eric Montoya got a no decision after he allowed four runs in four and two-thirds innings pitched.
With the Roadrunners leading 6-5 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Trent Lockwood hit a two-run homerun off of reliever Bryan Heaston (0-2) which gave Amarillo the lead for good. The Dillas scored four more runs in the inning to make the score 11-6 which turned out to be the final score. Andy Noonan (1-0) pitched an inning and a third of scoreless baseball for his first win of the season.
After an off day on Tuesday, the Roadrunners will return to action on Wednesday night against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings at Harlingen Field. Tim Haines (1-0) is expected to face Juan Peralta (0-1) with the first pitch scheduled at 7:05 p.m.
