
Colts Win Third Straight

SAN ANGELO, Texas--- It took just two hours and 29 minutes for the San Angelo Colts (8-4) to pick up their third straight win, while defeating the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings (5-7) with a score of 4-1.
The contest was tied at 1 all in the bottom of the eighth as Whitewings hurler Juan Jimenez was unable to weave his way through the middle of the Colts lineup. Ronnie Gaines began the inning with a single. Then Bryan Frichter followed with a cue shot single into right field. Jason Landreth stepped to the plate with those two on the corners, he would fist a soft ground ball to second scoring Gaines, moving Frichter to second, as Landreth was retired as first base giving the Colts a 1-0 lead. Nick Mahin would follow with a triple which one hopped the center field wall scoring Frichter and pushing the Colts lead to two runs. After a wild pitch Mahin would cross home plate tallying the score at 4-1.
Chace Vacek would slam the door with his third save of the year, allowing just one hit while striking out two. The winning pitcher for San Angelo was Jameson Maj (1-1). The former ACU closer earned his first win as a Colt, pitching a scoreless seventh and eighth allowing just one hit. The Colts starter, Drew Coffey (0-1), received a no decision as he went five innings, allowing just one hit with no earned runs. Collecting the loss was Juan Jimenez.
Two Colts collected multiple hits, Hunter Jobes and Bryan Frichter. Tallying an RBI was Frichter, Jason Landreth, and Nick Mahin.
