Amarillo Dillas News Release

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas were down 6-2 at one point against the Edinburg Roadrunners, but a six run eighth inning fueled by a two-run homerun from Trent Lockwood propelled Amarillo to the series sweep over Edinburg 11-6 on Monday night at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa in front of 3,726 fans.

Dillas reliever Andy Noonan (1-0) got the win, going an inning and a third, gave up no hits and struck out two. Edinburg reliever Bryan Heaston (0-3) lost his third game against the Dillas, giving up four runs, going an out past one inning. Lockwood went 2-5 with his third homerun in the effort.

Edinburg would get on the board first for the fourth straight game. In the second, back-to-back double by Eric Gonzalez and Angel Reyes plated two Roadrunners while Robert Matlock singled home another for a 3-0 Edinburg lead.

Amarillo would climb back within one in the third when Terrance McClain doubled home Corey Lozano and Carlos Figueroa to pull to 3-2.

The Roadrunners struck again in the fourth with three more runs after a two-RBI double by Bryon Smith and an RBI single by Cameron McGuire to give Edinburg a four-run advantage. Amarillo would start to chip away at the lead in the fourth and fifth with RBIs by Figueroa and Keanon Simon to pull the Dillas to two at 6-4.

A Sam McLain RBI fielder's choice in the sixth brought Amarillo within one run. Dillas reliever Jesse Rodriguez came in for the fifth inning and didn't allow a run in relief through the eighth, when Amarillo finally broke through in the same inning.

After a McClain single started the inning, Lockwood came up and blasted the first pitch from Heaston over the right field wall to give Amarillo the one run advantage. Amarillo would not stop there as Simon singled home two more while an error scored two more to move the Dillas ahead 11-6, which would be the final score.
