Denver Outlaws News Release
DENVER - Eight Denver Outlaws players were selected to the 2013 MLL All-Star Game, the league announced on Monday. Denver's eight All-Stars tie with Chesapeake for the most honors from any team this year.
The 2013 MLL All-Star Game will take place at 7 p.m. EDT at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. Players were selected through balloting process by MLL coaches and general managers.
Among the eight players from the undefeated Outlaws (8-0) selected to this year's squad are three first-time honorees.
Below are the Outlaws' eight 2013 All-Stars:
Attackman Chris Bocklet (1st selection): Bocklet earned his first career All-Star bid in his first full MLL season after joining the Outlaws as a rookie in 2012. He is tied for the league lead with 26 goals and ranks third with 32 points. Bocklet has scored six goals in three separate games this season to become the first Outlaw to accomplish that feat in multiple games during the same season.
Midfielder Zack Greer (1st selection): A 4th-year MLL veteran, Greer will make his first All-Star appearance this season. He has scored 13 points to go with six assists for 19 total points. He has been extremely efficient with his shot selection and has scored on 13-of-26 shots (.500), which ranks third in the league among players with at least 10 shots.
Faceoff Specialist Anthony Kelly (4th selection): Kelly will appear in his fourth All-Star Game thanks to his 133-of-223 performance through the first eight games of the season. His .596 faceoff winning percentage ranks second in the league this year and is on pace to finish with a career high in that category.
Attackman Brendan Mundorf (7th selection): Mundorf, who will not be able to play in the game due to a prior commitment, extended the franchise record that he shares with Lee Zink for most All-Star selections. He has been named to each All-Star game after his rookie season. The reigning MLL MVP, Mundorf ranks fifth in the league with 29 points and is tied for third with 13 assists this year.
Goalie Jesse Schwartzman (6th selection): Schwartzman leads the league with a 9.66 goals-against average through eight games in 2013. His .573 save percentage ranks second, and both figures would represent career single-season highs. The selection is the sixth in a row for the Outlaws' all-time leader in all goaltending categories.
Midfielder Jeremy Sieverts (2nd selection): Sieverts was named to his second All-Star appearance in a row. He ranks among the MLL's top 15 in goals, assists and total points and is tied for third with three two-point goals this year.
Midfielder Drew Snider (1st selection): Snider makes his All-Star debut in 2013 after scoring 30 points in the first eight games of the season. He ranks fourth in the league in total scoring on the strength of 21 goals, which is third-best in Major League Lacrosse.
Defenseman Lee Zink (7th selection): Along with Mundorf, Zink owns the Outlaws record for most All-Star selections in team history. The defending MLL Defensman of the Year, Zink has constantly shut out opponent's top attackmen this season. In the past five games, he has held his matchups - three of which are in this year's All-Star game and all five have been All-Stars - to just one goal and two assists combined.
