Charlotte Hounds News Release

Major League Lacrosse today announced its weekly award winners for Week 8 of the 2013 season, naming Charlotte Hounds attack Matt Danowski the Warrior Offensive Player of the Week. The winners are chosen by MLL Commissioner David Gross and are based on outstanding in-game achievements. In addition to Danowski's honor, the MLL named the Hamilton Nationals' Tucker Durkin Warrior Defensive Player of the Week and Boston Cannons attack Will Manny Cascade Rookie of the Week.

Danowski on Saturday night helped lead the Hounds to a 16-15 overtime win against the Chesapeake Bayhawks in front of the home crowd at American Legion Memorial Stadium. The captain's seven points came in the second half of play, during which the Hounds outscored the Bayhawks 9-5. Danowski opened the half with a goal, and then rifled in two 2-point goals to fuel the Hounds' third quarter comeback. He added another goal in the fourth quarter, and was credited with the assist to Ryan Young's game-winning overtime tally. The seventh-year veteran improved his season point total to 25, which currently ranks him tied for sixth place among all MLL players. Danowski through six games this season has averaged an impressive 4.16 points per game.
