Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (February 21)- It was a goal scorer ¬â¢s dream and every goaltender ¬â¢s nightmare in the Brahmas seventh straight win with a 8-7 overtime victory in Wichita against the Thunder.
Texas placed themselves in great position in the first period with five goals on the Thunder roster to Wichita ¬â¢s two. It was a quick start to the game when Darryl McArthur took a feed from Chad Woollard one minute from opening faceoff. Woollard followed it up with a pair of goals of his own to extend his goal scoring streak to nine games. His linemate Greg Hogeboom joined the goal scoring action when he netted a goal at the 12:22 marker to put Texas up 4-0 and end Thunder goalie, Kevin Beech ¬â¢s evening.
The Thunder ¬â¢s own Matt Robinson led the Wichita powerplay and converted beating Scott Reid in net; his first start in a Brahmas sweater. Fifteen seconds later Brian Ihnacak found the puck and put it in the back of the net to regain Texas ¬â¢ four goal lead. Former Brahmas forward, A.J. Gale found revenge against Texas when he found Reid out of sorts for his 23rd goal of the season.
The Thunder came out rumbling in the second with three unanswered goals, following a Hogeboom powerplay goal. Jason Krischuk made it a 7-5 Texas lead going into the second intermission with a lethal shot in the final seconds. A pair of goals from Wichita in the third made it a 7-7 tie leading the goal scoring extravaganza into the extra period. The game winning goal came from none other than CHL ¬â¢s reigning Player of the Week, Hogeboom for his first hat trick of the season and his team leading sixth point of the night. Texas netminders Wayne Savage and Reid faced a combined 60 shots in the game.
The Brahmas have a tough stretch to come with five games in seven nights beginning on the road Wednesday in Wichita (7:05 pm) and then to Allen Friday evening (7:30 pm). On Saturday, Texas visits the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (7:05) before finally returning home Sunday afternoon to take on Bloomington for the first time this season (4 pm). Next Tuesday the Brahmas head west to face the Odessa Jackalopes (7:05 pm). For ticket information please call (817) 336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com .
