Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
Jacksonville right-hander Edwin Jackson pitched brilliantly this past week, allowing zero earned runs in 15 innings of work on his way to earning BC Pitcher of the Week honors.
Jackson earned his first win of the week on August 8 against Chattanooga, pitching eight shutout innings in the Suns' 1-0 victory. In his second start of the week on August 13 against West Tenn, Jackson picked up another win to run his record to 6-4 in the Southern League this season as the Suns cruised to a 6-1 victory against the Diamond Jaxx. Jackson began the season in the Pacific Coast League with Las Vegas but was sent down to Jacksonville on June 16 after compiling a 3-7 record with an 8.62 ERA in 12 appearances.
Baseball America rates Jackson the third best prospect in the Dodgers' organization. The Dodgers selected Jackson in the sixth round of the 2001 draft out of Shaw High School in Columbus, GA.
