Edwards Drops 46, Stars Win Thriller

SALT LAKE CITY - Carsen Edwards knocked down two clutch free-throws with 8.7 seconds left in overtime, giving the Salt Lake City Stars a 126-122 lead and clinching what was a thrilling and impressive victory over the Iowa Wolves, their second win in three nights against the visiting Wolves.

Edwards was unstoppable, scoring 18 of his career-high 46 points in the fourth quarter and overtime. The former Boston Celtics guard shot 68.0 percent from the floor (17-of-25) and knocked down six shots from deep. Edwards added five rebounds, seven assists and four steals in what was undoubtedly his best performance in a Stars uniform.

In his last three games, all against the Wolves, Edwards has averaged 39.3 points, seven assists and three steals.

Jared Wilson-Frame was in a sharing mood in the first half, dishing out nine of his career-high 11 assists in the opening two quarters and although he struggled to shoot the ball, Wilson-Frame was clutch when it mattered the most; for the second consecutive game, the former Pitt Panther knocked down a straight away three to give the Stars a lead in the final seconds. Wilson-Frame finished the night with 12 points, five rebounds and 11 assists.

The Stars used clutch shooting and active hands on the defensive end to key a 13-5 run in the final 4:03 of the fourth quarter to tie the game and force overtime. The Wolves committed four turnovers in the final 4:03 of regulation plus overtime.

Utah Jazz Two-Way player Xavier Sneed exploded for a career-high 27 points, 13 of which came from the charity stripe, to go along with eight rebounds.

Yoeli Childs and Marques Bolden were monsters in the paint for a second consecutive game. Childs finished with 16 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high six blocked shots as he sent Wolves' attempts back with authority throughout the night. Bolden finished with 14 points, 16 rebounds and two blocked shots.

Vincent Edwards led the way for the Wolves with 28 points and nine rebounds, while Minnesota Timberwolves assignment player Leandro Bolmaro added 20 points, six assists and three steals.

Melvin Frazier Jr. came out of the gates firing for the visitors, scoring 13 of his 25 points in the opening frame.

The Stars will head out on an extended six-game road trip beginning Friday night against the Austin Spurs. The Stars will return home to host the Oklahoma City Blue on Saturday, March 19 at Vivint Arena, the home of the Utah Jazz.
