Edmonton Road Runners To Aid Tsunami Victims

December 30, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Edmonton Road Runners News Release

The Edmonton Road Runners announced today two initiatives to assist victims of the tsunami that devastated coastlines from south Asia to east Africa.

The Red Cross will be present at both Road Runners games at Rexall Place this weekend to accept donations for tsunami victims. As well, the Road Runners will donate all funds raised from Chuck-A-Puck sales both evenings to the relief effort. The Road Runners hosts the Cleveland Barons New Year's Eve (Friday) at 7:00 and New Year's Day (Saturday) at 2:00.

"Our hearts go out to all the families affected by this devastating event," said Stew MacDonald, President of the Road Runners. "With Road Runners games being a destination for so many during the holidays, we felt it would be a convenient location for contributions to the relief effort."

The Red Cross will accept both cash and cheque donations at the two games. Charitable receipts will be issued to all cheques. Over 2,500 Chuck-A-Pucks will be available each game at $1.00 each.

Tickets for both games are still available at all Ticketmaster ticket outlets, or by calling (780) 414-GOAL.
