Edinger, Gustafson Earn Weekly Honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Motor City Mechanics center Adam Edinger has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Adirondack Frostbite goaltender Derek Gustafson has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, January 29, 2006.

Edinger completed the week with seven points (3g, 4a) and a plus-5 rating in three games played. On Friday, he scored the game-winning goal in the 4-3 victory vs. Richmond. In Saturday's 4-3 shootout victory vs. Richmond, he had a goal and one assist. He also scored the only goal in the shootout. In Sunday's 6-2 victory vs. Elmira, he tallied four points (1g, 3a). The 28-year-old Toledo, Ohio native is currently tied for second in the UHL with 28 goals and is tied for 13th overall in scoring (45 pts). Edinger was recently selected to the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic but did not play due to a minor injury.

Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack Frostbite defenseman Josh Mizerek, Danbury right wing Jean-Michel Daoust, Elmira right wing Konstantin Kalmikov, Fort Wayne center Colin Chaulk, Kalamazoo left wing Nick Bootland, Missouri right wing Frank Littlejohn, Muskegon defenseman Joe Pomaranski, Quad City center Glenn Detulleo, Richmond center Mike Oliveira, Roanoke left wing David Beauregard, and Rockford right wing Robin Big Snake.

Gustafson finished the week with a 2-0-0 record, a 1.00 goals against average (GAA), a .967 save percentage (SPCT), and one shutout. He made 21 saves in Friday's 3-2 victory vs. Missouri. He stopped all 37 Quad City shots in Saturday's 4-0 win. It was his first shutout of the season and the first for the Frostbite in 2005-06. The 26-year-old native of Gresham, Oregon has been in net for each game of Adirondack's recent four-game winning streak. He currently has a 16-4-3 record, a 2.74 GAA, and a .908 SPCT this season.

Other goaltenders nominated for the Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week include: Danbury's Sylvain Daigle, Elmira's Nick Boucher, Fort Wayne's Kevin St. Pierre, Kalamazoo's Joel Martin, Missouri's Kevin Reiter, Motor City's Rod Branch, Muskegon's Kevin LaPointe, Quad City's Jason Tapp, Richmond's Doug Groenestege, Roanoke's Trevor Cunning, and Rockford's Michel Robinson.
