The Quakes hit the road this week after winning their second straight game, knocking off the New England Revolution 2-0 in front of the home crowd at Buck Shaw Stadium. With the win San Jose moved over .500 for the first time since their return to MLS in 2008. The Quakes play Chivas USA on Saturday, April 24 at The Home Depot Center at 7:30 p.m. PT, looking to improve to 2-0 on the road in 2010. The game can be seen live on Fox Soccer Channel, and can be heard on 1220 KDOW.

Earthquakes 2, New England Revolution 0; April 17, 2010; Buck Shaw Stadium; Santa Clara, Calif.

Chris Wondolowski, starting in large part because three other San Jose forwards were sidelined by hamstring problems, scored his first goal of the season to put the Earthquakes ahead to stay Saturday in what would become a 2-0 win over New England. Ike Opara and Bobby Convey hooked up for the second consecutive week to provide the extra cushion as the Quakes bobbed above the .500 mark for the first time since being re-formed in 2008. Wondolowski scored in the 57th minute to break through for San Jose, which dominated possession for much of the evening in the absence of New England midfielder Shalrie Joseph. Joey Gjertsen fed Ryan Johnson, who turned and broke into the Revs' penalty area. Once there, Johnson slipped a perfectly weighted pass between two New England defenders. Wondolowski, having beaten his marker, ran onto the ball and slotted it past Revs goalkeeper Preston Burpo. Opara's goal looked similar to his tally in Chicago during the Earthquakes' win against the Fire last weekend. Convey struck an inswinging ball that found the 6-foot-2 rookie open at the far post, where Opara headed it home. San Jose goalkeeper Joe Cannon recorded his 100th career MLS victory, and although he did come up with a block in stoppage time as New England (2-2-0) tried for an equalizer, he didn't make what was arguably the biggest save of the night for his team. For the third match running, the Earthquakes had a defender save a near goal off the end line. This time it was Convey, who was manning the far post on a 52nd-minute corner kick by Marko Perovic. Darrius Barnes put a flying head on the ball, but Convey was in perfect position and coolly cleared it.

Last Game vs. Chivas USA

Earthquakes 2, Chivas USA 2; Oct. 17, 2009; The Home Depot Center; Carson, Calif.

The San Jose Earthquakes and Chivas USA battled to a 2-2 draw at The Home Depot Center. Ryan Johnson broke a 1-1 deadlock in the 58th minute, but Justin Braun equalized in the 66th minute. The match did not get off to an inspiring start for San Jose. Just seven minutes in, the Earthquakes defense had pushed all the way up towards the middle of the field. Chivas USA's Sacha Kljestan got to a loose ball and sent a through ball towards Maykel Galindo, who easily outpaced the Earthquakes defense. Galindo dribbled into the penalty area and ripped a 12-yard shot past Andrew Weber and into the back of the net. In the 21st minute, San Jose pulled level. Shea Salinas crossed the ball to the left post and McDonald powered a header into the back of the net. San Jose went into the break tied 1-1 but pushed forward and eventually went ahead. Chris Leitch sent a free kick from about 35 yards out towards the left side of the penalty area in the 58th minute. Johnson got his head to the ball and beat Chivas goalkeeper Zach Thornton. The ball looped high into the air and went over Thornton's head as San Jose took the lead. But it was ultimately short-lived. In the 66th minute, Ante Jazic sent a cross into the penalty area. Justin Braun beat Weber to the ball and knocked a header over Weber, who had charged off his line to try and punch the ball away. Braun's header settled into the back of the net and the hosts had a surge of momentum, but San Jose and Chivas USA split the points.

Quakes Above .500 for First Time Since Coming Back to MLS

The San Jose Earthquakes won on Saturday, April 17 against the New England Revolution to move to 2-1 on the season. With the win, the Quakes move above .500 for the first time since the team returned to San Jose before the 2008 season.

Opara Comes Through Again

Rookie defender Ike Opara scored for the second straight week, scoring in the 72nd minute against the New England Revolution. The rookie struck again with his head, linking up with Bobby Convey again, this time off of a corner kick. Watch the goal here .

Wondo Strikes for First Goal in First Start

Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski scored the first goal against the New England Revolution in the Quakes win and his first start of the season. The Danville native was the recipient of a well-played through ball by Ryan Johnson, and finished coolly to put the Quakes on top. This was Wondolowski's second game-winner since his return to the Quakes last year (Aug. 22 against Kansas City in stoppage time). Check out Wondo's goal here .

Convey Notches Second Assist

Quakes midfielder Bobby Convey picked out Ike Opara at the back post on a corner kick in the 72nd minute against the New England Revolution. It was the second time they teamed up for a goal in as many weeks, after Convey found Opara for the game-winner in Chicago on April 10.

Gjertsen Tallies First MLS Assist

Quakes midfielder Joey Gjertsen found his name on the scoresheet for the first time in his MLS career when he played the ball to Ryan Johnson that eventually led to the first San Jose goal in the 57th minute. Gjertsen won the ball in the defensive third, knocking Chris Tierney off the ball, and finding his target forward Johnson, who picked out Wondolowski for the goal.

Cannon Wins 100th Game

Earthquakes goalkeeper Joe Cannon notched his 100th career win on Saturday against the New England Revolution. With this win, he becomes the fourth goalkeeper in MLS history to record 100 career wins. FC Dallas goalkeeper Kevin Hartman is the all-time leader with 146 wins.

Alvarez Set to Make 150th Appearance

Quakes midfielder/forward Arturo Alvarez will make his 150th career appearance in MLS if he plays on Saturday, April 24 against Chivas USA. He has started 92 games and scored 22 goals and notched 17 assists in his eight-year career.

Hernandez Makes 100th Appearance

Quakes defender Jason Hernandez made his 100th career MLS appearance on Saturday, April 17 against the Revolution in the 2-0 win. He has made 83 starts in his six-year career.

Earthquakes Host Going Green Night May 1

The San Jose Earthquakes will host their second annual Going Green night on Saturday, May 1 when they take on the Colorado Rapids at Buck Shaw Stadium. The Earthquakes have teamed up with MLS W.O.R.K.S., the charitable arm of Major League Soccer, and the Natural Resources Defense Council to off-set the carbon footprint for energy used at the stadium that night. The night will also feature numerous giveaway items. The first 2,500 fans will get a reusable water bottle. The first 5,000 fans will receive an eco-tip guide courtesy by the National Resources Defense Council and flower seed packets will be distributed to the first 4,000 fans, courtesy of America the Beautiful Fund. Also, select fans will receive an Eco-Metro Guide featuring discounts at local, sustainable businesses. Fans who drive a Hybrid car to the game receive $5 off parking, while patrons who take VTA or Caltrain to the match will receive a $5 discount for a game ticket by showing their VTA or Caltrain receipt. Additionally, the Quakes will implement a new recycling program in conjunction with Odwalla beginning with the May 1 game.

Quakes Launch Academy

The San Jose Earthquakes Academy tryouts are now underway. The Earthquakes will fully fund all team-related expenses for a total of 44 players in the Earthquakes Youth Academy pool - 22 apiece between the U-16 and U-18 levels.

Cannon Among All-Time Leaders

Earthquakes goalkeeper Joe Cannon is among the all-time league leaders in a number of goalkeeping categories. He is second in goalkeeper appearances (277), starts (276) and minutes played (24,945). He is now third all-time in saves (1,133), third all-time in shutouts (69) and fourth all-time in wins (100) in league history. For San Jose, Cannon is first in club history as a goalkeeper in starts (162), minutes played (14,751), saves (665), wins (62) and shutouts (39) and second in goals against average (1.33), and saves percentage (73.0). He also holds the team's all-time record for saves in a game with 12 on July 8, 2000 at Colorado.

Corrales Among All-Time Leaders

Ramiro Corrales has the most appearances in franchise history with 170, has made 154 starts and 13,692 minutes played as a member of the Quakes. He is now third place in franchise history in starts and is third in all-time in club history for minutes played. He is one start behind Richard Mulrooney for second all-time.

Quakes Host High School Night of Champions

The San Jose Earthquakes hosted their High School Night of Champions on Saturday, April 17 against the New England Revolution at Buck Shaw Stadium. High School teams that have won CIF Sectionals were honored pre-game and received a signed certificate from general manager John Doyle congratulating the players. Each player from the 14 schools (15 teams) received tickets to the game, and there were over 250 players and an additional 250 family members and friends that attended the game.

Philadelphia Match on Sept. 18 Moved to Sept. 15

The San Jose Earthquakes announced last week that their game that was scheduled for Saturday, September 18 has been moved to Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 7:00 p.m. PT at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. The full 2010 Earthquakes schedule is available on www.sjearthquakes.com.

Quakes Individual Tickets Now On Sale

The San Jose Earthquakes announced that individual tickets for all 2010 Earthquakes home games are now on sale. The Quakes significantly reduced prices for the 2010 season with prices ranging from $20-50. Tickets for the much anticipated 2010 campaign are available online at sjearthquakes.com or by calling 1-800-225-2277. The new, reduced prices for the 2010 season are as follows; Premier Midfield $50 per game ($60 in 2009), Center Circle $35 per game ($40 in 2009), Sideline $25 per game ($35 in 2009) and Goal View $20 per game ($22 in 2009).

Earthquakes 2010 Partial Plan

The San Jose Earthquakes have one partial plan for the 2010 season still available, the Pick 6 Plan. With the Pick 6 Plan you can select any six Earthquakes home games at Buck Shaw Stadium during the 2010 regular season. Prices are as follows: Corona Cove - $330, Center Circle - $192, Sideline - $132, Goal View - $108, Supporters Section - $90.
