Published on April 19, 2010 under Major League Soccer (MLS) News Release

NEW YORK (April 19, 2010) - Los Angeles Galaxy forward Edson Buddle was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 4 of the 2010 MLS season. Buddle supplied both of the Galaxy's goals in their 2-1 victory over reigning MLS Cup Champion Real Salt Lake on Saturday, April 17 at The Home Depot Center.

Buddle opened scoring as in the 12th minute, Landon Donovan sent a corner kick toward the top of the six-yard box and with a perfectly timed leap, Buddle headed home his sixth goal of the season.

With the score tied at 1-1 in the 76th minute, Galaxy newcomer Juninho fought through the Salt Lake defense and found Buddle at the top of the area. Buddle settled the ball with his left foot and blasted a right-footed half-volley past Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando to seal the Galaxy's 2-1 victory.

Saturday night's two-goal effort was Buddle's third multi-goal game of the season and the 15th of his career. With seven goals, Buddle has scored all of the Galaxy's goals this season as the club remains undefeated, 4-0-0, through the team's best start since 1998.

This is Buddle's eighth career Player of the Week award: 2003 - Week 1; 2004 - Week 18 & 25, 2005 - Week 1; 2006 - Week 22; 2008 - Week 8 & 12; 2010 - Week 4).
