Earthquakes Host Going Green Night On Saturday, May 1

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes will host their second annual Going Green night on Saturday, May 1 when they take on the Colorado Rapids at Buck Shaw Stadium.

The Earthquakes have teamed up with MLS W.O.R.K.S., the charitable arm of Major League Soccer, and the Natural Resources Defense Council to off-set the carbon footprint for energy used at the stadium that night.

The night will also feature numerous giveaway items. The first 2,500 fans will get a reusable water bottle. The first 5,000 fans will receive an eco-tip guide courtesy by the National Resources Defense Council and flower seed packets will be distributed to the first 4,000 fans, courtesy of America the Beautiful Fund. Also, select fans will receive an Eco-Metro Guide featuring discounts at local, sustainable businesses.

Fans who drive a Hybrid car to the game receive $5 off parking, while patrons who take VTA or Caltrain to the match will receive a $5 discount for a game ticket by showing their VTA or Caltrain receipt. Additionally, the Quakes will implement a new recycling program in conjunction with Odwalla beginning with the May 1 game.
