Earthquakes To Host Portland Timbers At Buck Shaw Stadium

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the team will play the US Soccer Federation Second Division Portland Timbers at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara on Saturday, March 20 at 7:00 p.m. PT.

Season ticket holders can attend these matches free of charge; Tickets go on sale on Monday, Feb. 15 at 10:00 a.m. PT and can be purchased by calling 408-556-7700 or online at sjearthquakes.com. All tickets are general admission and the ticket price for non-season ticket holders is $10.

The Earthquakes have faced the Timbers five times in franchise history and lead the overall series 4-1. In their last meeting on March 14, 2009 the Earthquakes came away with a 1-0 victory. Quincy Amarikwa scored the game's lone goal to give the Quakes the win. Amarikwa headed a rebound off of a deflected shot just across the line for the only goal of the night and the Quakes held on for the 1-0 win, as Joe Cannon and the defense preserved the shutout. On March 28, 2008, the Quakes posted a 2-1 victory. Kei Kamara scored an early goal for the Quakes and they held on for the win as Shea Salinas added the second goal for the Quakes. On August 3, 2005, in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16, San Jose shut out Portland 2-0 with goals scored by Wade Barrett and Brian Mullan. The previous year, on July 14, the Earthquakes defeated the Timbers 3-0 in the Open Cup with goals scored by Ramiro Corrales, Ronnie Ekelund and Dwayne De Rosario. Their first meeting was on June 4, 2001, in an exhibition match where Portland snuck by San Jose for a 2-1 win.

The San Jose Earthquakes have significantly reduced season ticket prices for the 2010 Major League Soccer season. Season tickets start as low as $204. Season ticket prices have been reduced in all sections; Premier Midfield will now be $40 per game ($50 in 2009), Center Circle $30 per game ($35 in 2009), Sideline $20 per game ($30 in 2009), Goal View $15 per game ($20 in 2009) and Supporters Section $12 per game ($18 in 2009).
