
Earthquakes Take on Portland Timbers Tonight

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes are facing the MLS is Back Tournament champion Portland Timbers tonight at Earthquakes Stadium, presented by Fastmetrics. The match kicks off at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on FOX Sports 1, KNBR 1050 and 1370 KZSF.
The Quakes carry a 5-2-4 overall home record vs. Portland, most recently defeating the Oregon side 3-0 in April 2019. The Earthquakes have a 4-1-0 record in their last five home meetings against Portland, outscoring them 10-3.
The Timbers are led by former MLS MVP Diego Valeri and 23-year-old U.S. National Team forward Jeremy Ebobisse but will be without star midfielder Sebastian Blanco due to an ACL injury. Portland (14 pts.) sits four points over San Jose (10 pts.) in the Western Conference standings.
Tonight's match will be the first of two duels against Portland this week, with another showdown scheduled for Saturday. The last time San Jose played the same team in back-to-back regular season matches in a single season was also against Portland during the 2014 MLS regular season.
