Los Angeles FC News Release
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), Banc of California Stadium and the Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC) announced today that Banc of California Stadium has received GBAC STAR facility accreditation, the gold standard for prepared facilities.
"Receiving GBAC STAR accreditation shows our commitment and dedication to keeping our guests safe and protected," Banc of California Stadium General Manager Michael Alperstein said. "As we prepare to welcome guests back to the stadium, we are proud to offer a clean and comfortable space for memorable experiences in the heart of Los Angeles."
To achieve GBAC STAR accreditation, Banc of California Stadium was required to demonstrate compliance with the GBAC's 20 core elements, including standard operating procedures, risk assessment strategies, personal protective equipment, emergency preparedness and response measures. The accreditation signifies that the stadium has implemented and maintained the industry's highest standards for cleaning and disinfection of infectious agents like the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
"GBAC STAR accreditation empowers facility owners and managers to assure workers, customers and key stakeholders that they have proven systems in place to maintain clean and healthy environments," GBAC Executive Director Patricia Olinger said. "By taking this important step to pursue GBAC STAR, Banc of California Stadium has received third-party validation that it follows strict protocols for biorisk situations, thereby demonstrating its preparedness and commitment to operating safely."
As the cleaning industry's only outbreak prevention, response and recovery accreditation, GBAC STAR helps organizations establish protocols and procedures, offers expert-led training and assesses a facility's readiness for biorisk situations.
