San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes return home this week to take on the Seattle Sounders in their quest for a second consecutive Heritage Cup. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. PT from Buck Shaw Stadium and will be broadcast live on Comcast SportsNet California, 1220 KDOW (in English) and 1370 KZSF (in Spanish). San Jose comes in with a four game unbeaten streak intact, having not lost a match since the World Cup break. The Quakes earned a 2-2 draw with league leaders LA Galaxy in Carson last week. San Jose knocked off Seattle at Qwest Field on May 22 courtesy of an 11th minute goal by Chris Wondolowski in their first meeting of 2010.
The Heritage Cup was conceived last season as a way to honor the tradition of the NASL by pitting teams with NASL roots against each other. Currently, the Earthquakes and Sounders FC are the lone teams competing, but the competition will include the expansion Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps FC when they join the MLS in 2011.
What: San Jose Earthquakes vs. Seattle Sounders FC
Where: Buck Shaw Stadium; Santa Clara, Calif.
