Real Salt Lake News Release
SANDY, Utah (Friday, July 30, 2010) - Real Salt Lake (9-4-4; 31 pts. 2nd in West) will look to continue its club record 19-match home unbeaten streak in MLS play as it welcomes D.C. United (3-11-3; 12 pts. 8th in East) tomorrow, Saturday, July 31, to Rio Tinto Stadium for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff, presented by KFC. The Utah side will also be looking to stay sharp as the defending champs prepare for a two-week road trip and a brutal August schedule that will include 14 games in 56 days.
Tickets for tomorrow night's match are still available and can be purchased online at www.RealSaltLake.com and www.RioTintoStadium.com, over the phone at 801-727-2700, and in person at the Rio Tinto Stadium Box Office until 6:00 p.m. on Friday and beginning at 10:00 a.m. MT on gameday.
Fans that can't make it out to Sandy tomorrow night can follow the action live on the MLS Direct Kick pay-per-view package (Dish Network 463 & DirecTV 474) or by tuning in to RSL's official radio partners - ESPN 700 (English), ESPN Deportes 1600-AM and Homero 106.1-FM (Spanish). RSL's Official Twitter feed will also provide constant updates throughout the contest at www.Twitter.com/RealSaltLake.
Real Salt Lake and D.C. United are well-acquainted after squaring off twice in four days' time at RFK Stadium back in early June. In their first meeting in Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup qualifying play on June 2, it was a tally in the second period of added extra time by United MF Andy Najar that was the difference in a 1-2 loss that dashed RSL's hopes to qualify for the tournament proper for the first time since 2006. Three days later, the two sides squared off in League play at RFK, with the sluggish sides fighting to a 0-0 draw again in hot and humid conditions.
Real Salt Lake is now 4-4-3 all-time in MLS play against the Black-and-Red, with all four wins coming in Utah (4-1-0 at home). D.C. United is one of only two squads - alongside the next opponent to roll into Rio Tinto Stadium, the Columbus Crew (Aug. 14) - that has yet to face the Claret-and-Cobalt during the 19-game home unbeaten run (however, Columbus was the victim in RSL's postseason win at home last October).
