WEEK IN REVIEW

Tuesday, December 21 Eagles 1 @ Amarillo Gorillas 2

The Eagles lost their second straight road game on Tuesday night. The Gorillas, after losing 6-2 to Colorado on December 15, out shot the Eagles 37-24 and controlled the pace of play for most of the game. Amarillo's goaltender Steve Briere gave up the lone Eagles goal on a power play goal by Kevin Marsh. Kelly Miller and Dave Rattray each had a goal in the second period, Miller's was a short-handed goal. Eagles goaltender Tyler Weiman again played outstanding keeping the Eagles in the game saving 35 of 37 shots.

Wednesday, December 22 Eagles 5 @ New Mexico Scorpions 2

Riley Nelson set a team record scoring four goals in the Eagles 5-2 win. Nelson scored the first goal of the game at the 9:40 mark of the first period, and followed it up with a hat-trick in the third period. Kevin Marsh scored the only other Eagles goal. Colorado out shot the Scorpions 45-33 en route to winning their third-straight game at the Tingley Coliseum. The road team has won every game in the series this season.

WEEK AHEAD Tuesday, December 28 Eagles @ Odessa Jackalopes 6:00 p.m. MST Radio-KKPL-99.9 The Point

The Eagles and Jackalopes meet for the second and final time this season. Colorado blanked the Jacks 3-0 on November 24. Tyler Weiman saved all 33 shots he faced for his third shutout of the season. Colorado has not lost to Odessa in the team's short history going 4-0. Odessa beat San Angelo 3-2 last Tuesday to end a six-game losing streak. The Jacks are 9-8-5, 23 points and are in fourth place in the Southwest Division.

Wednesday, December 29 Eagles @ Amarillo Gorillas 6:11 p.m. MST Radio-KKPL-99.9 The Point

The Eagles and Gorillas meet for the third time this season. Amarillo out shot the Eagles 37-24 and won 2-1 last Tuesday night at the Amarillo Civic Center. Colorado beat the Gorillas 6-2 back on December 15 at the Budweiser Events Center. The Eagles are 4-2 all-time against Amarillo. Amarillo is 11-11-2, 24 points, and are in third place in the Southwest Division. The final meeting of the season is March 9, 2005 at the Budweiser Events Center.

Nelson's Night- Riley Nelson set a franchise record scoring four goals against the New Mexico Scorpions on December 22. He scored the Eagles first goal of the game, and followed it up with three goals in the third period in the Eagles 5-2 victory. He leads the team with 17 goals, a .215 shooting percentage, and seven power play goals.

Shootout in the Second- The Eagles have outscored their opponents 37-16 in the second period this season. The +21 difference is the biggest in the CHL, and the 37 goals are also the most in the league in the second period.

Penalty Killers- The Eagles continue to pace the league in killing penalties in which they have killed 92.4% of the penalties. Colorado has killed all penalties the past four games, killing all 22 penalties against them.

All-Star Starters- Eagles right winger Greg Pankewicz and goaltender Tyler Weiman have been selected to start for the Northern Conference in the 2005 CHL All-Star Game in Laredo, Texas. This is the second start in as many seasons for the veteran Pankewicz who leads the Eagles in scoring with 33 points (12-21-33). This is the first all-star game for Eagles rookie goaltender Weiman who leads all goaltenders in GAA (1.74), save percentage (.938), and shutouts (4). The two players join Head Coach Chris Stewart who was selected to coach the Northern Conference on December 20.

Road Trip- The Eagles are amidst their longest road trip of the season. Tuesday night's game against the Jackalopes is the fourth game of a five-game road trip. Colorado will have another five game road trip in the middle of January.

Eagles on The Point- 99.9 FM The Point will broadcast all of the Eagles regular and post-season games this year.
