Blazers finish week 0-2-0
December 27, 2004 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Oklahoma City Blazers News Release
Oklahoma City skated twice last week, losing both games in regulation. The Blazers began the week by losing their 10th straight game to the Wichita Thunder on December 21 by the score of 4-2. Oklahoma City ended their week losing at home on Christmas night to the Tulsa Oilers by the score of 6-2. The Blazers are 9-14-4, with 22 points and in a fifth place in the Northeast Division of the CHL.
WICHITA EXTENDS WINNING STREAK OVER BLAZERS â Oklahoma City lost to the Wichita Thunder 4-2 on December 21 in Oklahoma City. The loss was the 10th straight to the Thunder and fifth straight in Oklahoma City. Mike Beausoleil and Josh Akright each scored for Oklahoma City in the loss. Goaltender Sean Connors stopped 26 of 29 shots in the loss.
CHIRSTMAS NIGHT BLUES â Oklahoma City rounded out its week by hosting the Tulsa Oilers in the traditional Christmas night game at the Ford Center. The result was not what the Blazers asked Santa for, a 6-2 loss to the Oilers. Bryan Forslund and Brad Herauf each scored for the Blazers in the loss. Oilers forwads Dan Gravelle, Darren Partch and Jaroslav Cesky each had three points.
THUNDER HAVE THE BLAZERS' NUMBER â The Oklahoma City Blazers loss on December 21 to the Wichita Thunder was the team's 10th straight to the men in blue. That extends a new franchise record for consecutive losses to one team. The loss also tied an existing, active streak for consecutive losses to one team at home. The Thunder join the Austin Ice Bats as the only teams have a five-game winning streak against the Blazers in Oklahoma City.
TRAILING IN THE GAME NOT THE BLAZERS CUP OF TEA â Coming from behind has not been the Blazers' strong suit this season. Including the game on Christmas night, Oklahoma City is 0-7-0 when trailing after the first period and 0-9-0 when trailing after the second period. Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Rio Grande Valley are the only teams to not post a win this season when trailing after one period of play.
A DECEMBER TO FORGET â The Oklahoma City Blazers month of December began very well. Through six of the team's 13 December games, the squad was 4-1-1. In the team's next four games, the Blazers are 0-4-0. That includes blowing two third period leads consecutive nights to Rio Grande Valley and Corpus Christi. For the month, Oklahoma City is 4-5-1 and has allowed two more goals than they have scored (29-31).
SATURDAY NIGHT NOT THE BLAZERS' NIGHT â Oklahoma City has struggled this season in the win/loss category. Saturday nights have been the worst. In 10 Saturday night games this season, Oklahoma City is 1-7-2. The Blazers' only Saturday night win came on December 4 on the road in Memphis.
LOUGHLEAN WITH ASSISTS IN THREE STRAIGHT â Blazers first-year centerman Cody Loughlean has balanced the ledger in his scoring with the Blazers. Through 23 games, he had recorded four points on the season, all via goals. In the Blazers last four games, he has recorded an assist in each, for a total of five. He joins Bryan Forslund as the only Blazers players with points in their last three games.
FORSLUND SHOWING SIGNS OF PRODUCITON â Blazers veteran forward Bryan Forslund has shown signs of production over the team's last three games. After seven games without a point, Forslund has points in three straight. That includes his second two-goal game of his Blazers career on December 18 against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees.
LONG LOSING STREAKS â The Blazers enter this week on a four-game losing streak. Already this season, the team has endured a four and five-game losing skid.
